Some worship, praise, & even preach passionately about Jesus… Or “a” Jesus that they choose to fabricate in their own mind. A loving, caring, accepting Jesus no less, but is it the one described in scripture, or not?
Would a parent that let their kids just do whatever they want whenever they want, be a good “loving“, caring, or accepting parent? Or would they be an enabler to their own children’s demise?
Let your common sense answer that question.
When was the last time you saw an unruly brat in the store throwing a tantrum with the parent standing there doing nothing? What went through your head? Probably that you wish that they would discipline the little problem child… & tell the kid “No”??… Watch out!!… Step back & watch the attitude fly with a fire ball of no self control, followed by a list of gimme gimme gimme.
You can definitely tell the difference between a child that has been trained in discipline and one that has not.
The trouble in the undisciplined child is that they don’t know they aren’t disciplined because they continue to be led by their human instincts.
Right or wrong?
(The adult version would be “I am who I am” “I do what I do” “I want what I want”)
All the while defending their selfish one sided, all about me, Jesus. With a, “He accepts me for who I am” come back.
Which is true to a point…
That is where the real Jesus comes into the picture, & separates true from false converts. He does love us for who we are,…
But,… He does not want us to stay there.
He wants us to submit to His will. (Which the selfish attitude wants nothing to do with). He wants obedience which demands a change of life.
Including behavior, attitude, outlook, actions… Etc.
If there is NO change in your life then you are in a selfish relationship with a self replicated Jesus of your own making. (Un-disciplined) Which in turn causes people that don’t believe to continue not believing simply because they see, in you, exactly what they are doing themselves,
& why would they need a weak deity that has
no power to change it’s own creation?
If you were in a “relationship” with someone that only wanted you when it was convenient for them, didn’t care what you thought about anything & demanded that you love them & stay with them just because they wanted to use you for whatever they could get out of you, and how dare you want any different… How long would you stay?
A REAL relationship with the TRUE Jesus results in a CHANGE of heart, ultimately leading to a changed life, when you submit to His ways.
If you never change year after year,
that should cause you to question your beliefs.
Don’t be deceived into thinking that the change you see in yourself is a result of salvation, if that Change only involves a deeper trust in your selfishness. That you continue to be more & more comfortable with your fabricated, self saving, personal Jesus that you keep on a tight dog collar, & in a box when you have no use for Him to actually make a difference in your life.
If you weighed 87 lbs. skinnier than a rail but hung out in the gym, all the while boasting about how much of a body builder you are, how many converts do you think you’d pull in to your routine? Sure you’ll get your occasional followers that hang around your un-physical advertisement in, no impact body building, giving you your much needed insecure reassurance as you reciprocate the “feel good about me” club.
Claiming status without the necessary work involved is appealing,
but still, simply, just a claim.
TRUE status takes work, pain, discipline, dedication, commitment in whatever it takes, (not whatever is convenient) .. Etc.
1 John 2:3-5
And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him:
So ask yourself, what happens IF you DON’T keep His commandments?
He that has my commandments, and keeps them, it is he that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Does the perpetual grace you envelope yourself in give you license to go against Gods word & continue claiming a sinless existence?
Romans 6:14-18 14
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Don‘t you know, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, you are servants to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that you were the servants of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, you became the servants of righteousness.
So if you continue to just “do what you do” and claim you are under grace, you are deceiving yourself because your choice to continue is the choice “of sin unto death”.
You must chose obedience unto righteousness and when you fail at times you are under grace.
There is work involved, and in that “work” your salvation is displayed. Not salvation “BY” works, Your works are a result of your salvation.
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Don’t, also, get pulled into the belief that a frivolous head knowledge of an existence of a god will bring you salvation. Belief, without trusting in that belief, and a, commitment to that belief, is No belief at all.
A head knowledge of a functioning parachute involves no action or commitment, and you don’t truly believe until you make it a part of you and trust your life to it.
A belief in a parachute is only validated when you strap it on and jump.
